About Me
My Work
When I retired from the day to day grind, I knew I wanted to work with wood. Now, I cut, shape, sand and grind wood into objects of art, sometimes with function.
I work with many varieties of wood, and often incorporate turquoise from Kingman Arizona into the nooks, cracks and crevices of the wood. Additionally, I collect wood, stones and objects found around in the desert near my home in Lake Havasu City Arizona and use those items in my designs.
I am Lance Gibbs - LG, a New Zealand native - kiwi, living in Arizona. The result is LG AZKiwi LLC.
Biography
I was born in New Zealand, where I spent the first 20+ years of my life. From there I started exploring the world, with a VW bus adventure from Cape Town South Africa to London England. I took a job with the McLaren F1 team in London, which lead to travels around the world from racetrack to racetrack. Next came a stint on a wooden clipper ship, Aqulia Marina, based out of Monaco. Still desiring to see the US, I joined Team McLaren IndyCar for a year and covered that territory. For the next 30+ years, I settled in the Indianapolis area, married, had 2 sons and owned a business that manufactured and installed vinyl graphics for the racing and commercial industries. Retirement has brought me to Lake Havasu City, Arizona where the sun shines over 300 days a year and I have a workshop where I make sawdust, and the remainder of the wood is art.
